Megan grew up as a creative yet athletic kid. One year in 3rd grade she decided that she would sign up to dance at the elementary talent show to M.C. Hammer’s Can’t Touch This... It was a success until she slipped and fell three times in front of her entire elementary school, but every time she would pop back up and say, “Can’t Touch This!” It took years before she wanted to get up in front of others, and she stuck with her sports endeavors. However, it was the encouragement of her 6th grade English teacher that her love for the arts and particularly theatre began to grow, and all stage fright began to wash away.
After college, she became a junior high theatre director and assistant high school director for Anna ISD. Where her students won several UIL district competitions and also produced large musicals with casts of 120 students or more... triple cast!!!
While at Anna she met her husband while doing a show in Richardson, TX and they married in July of 2010 and now have two kiddos. Megan went on to teach and transitioned from teaching in the public school system to the private school system at Stone Gate Christian Academy. While there she was able to be mentored by Virginia Wirth who after her passing in 2015 TAPPS honored her by establishing the Virginia Wirth Award for TAPPS state championships which goes to students receiving the highest points at speech events.
Megan received the 2016 TAPPS 1A Fine Arts Teacher of the Year, and she was honored to take students to the TAPPS State One Act Play competition three times and took 1st and 2nd during two of those visits.
In fall of 2017, the Lord called her to step down from teaching at SGCA for an unknown adventure and to have some time with her son at home. Soon, in summer of 2018 she began to serve with Gateway Performing Arts, and now serves on staff as the Associate Pastor of Performing Arts of Gateway since 2021.
Megan still loves teaching and telling stories through theatre after all these years. And wants to help students keep getting up if they get a bit scared and say, "Can’t Touch This!!!" She is humbled that the Lord has let her have such a fun and rewarding career and can’t see what else He has in store. Soli Deo Gloria!!
